The best time to really be in the slow living lifestyle is at night, after the daytime chaos and hectic work day. I try to follow a routine every night, to stay mindful and intentional. Even on days when I get to fully practice slow living, I still follow the night routine.
Essential oil
My night routine starts with diffusing essential oil. The scent creates a calming and relaxing environment.

Colouring
I will do some colouring, either in a colouring book or starting this year, a colouring planner. This prevents me from spending too much time on my phone before bed.

Listen to music
I'll listen to music from my pre night playlist while colouring. I usually listen to ballads or slow paced songs in a language that I do not know, to keep my mind away from focusing on the lyrics and being too active, instead of winding down.

Prepare for bed
At some point through colouring and listening to music, I will start feeling sleepy. That's when I'll start preparing for bed, which includes brushing teeth, taking my supplements and skincare.

Switch lighting
At this time, I'll be in bed already. If I'm very tired, it's lights out right away. If I'm not so tired, I'll switch my lights to warm lighting. Not only does warm lighting contain less blue light, it's another way to create a spa like and relaxing environment with the orange colour.

Listen to lofi
I'm basically making my room become almost like a spa, with the gentle tunes of lofi, known as the most relaxing music genre. I'll listen to a playlist of about 20 to 30 minutes then it's lights out.
So that is my slow living night routine. By being mindful and intentional with a routine, I find myself going to bed earlier, as I'm no longer mindlessly scrolling through my phone. I'm also falling asleep quicker than before since I'm going to bed being in my most calm state and with a mind free from thoughts.
