Daily Slow Musings - Runny Nose (11 January)

Woke up at my usual time, 10.30 am, for Maplestory M - expedition and hot time, but I went back to bed after. I was still sneezing and since there were lots of mucus, I was definitely down with runny nose.


One of the ways to recover from runny nose is to rest, that's why I went back to bed, and also because I was feeling sleepy.



The rain that lasted the whole day and night had stopped, so I thought of going out for lunch. However, when I woke up, it was pouring again.


I went to search and found lots of news articles about the never ending rain. It was forecasted to go on till 13 January, that meant another 2 days, due to the moonsoon surge. There were articles published a day before the rain even started, so I guess I don't keep up with the news.


I had bread and my daily dose of coffee. I need to have a cup of coffee everyday, shortly after getting up, no matter the time.


I was still hungry, so I went on the app to find affordable food. I do have food at home but it's all processed food and instant noodles, which doesn't go with my goal of living a healthier lifestyle. I also already had instant noodles and canned food in the week. I'm already sick, so I also don't want to be putting more junk into my body.


Took awhile of going in and out of the app to find something that I felt was reasonable. After ordering, I checked my planner and planned for the rest of the day. Although I was sick, I still tried to be a little productive and not spend all day laying in bed.


My food arrived and I went to eat. I ordered only 2 items, noodles and dumplings, with the thought of saving money but luckily I only ordered 2. Maybe because of the runny nose, I felt full very quickly and couldn't eat much of the dumplings. With this level of appetite, the dumplings would be enough for dinner.


Time check, 5 pm. I suddenly felt very sleepy after eating, or maybe it's food coma. So I went to lay in bed for awhile before making a drink. Instead of my usual afternoon coffee, I'm having luo han guo (羅漢果) tea, which I've always heard from the older folks, can relieve cough and runny nose by reducing phlegm.


Since I was sick 2 times and now the third time in a span of 3 months, literally every month, my mom bought packets of that tea, so I have a lot.


While slowly sipping on the hot tea, which was also perfect for the rainy day, I listened to music. My favourite genre is k-pop. I find k-pop songs to be relaxing and soothing. It's not all songs but most of them. On that week there were a few new releases and I listened to them all week.


Felt a little better after drinking the tea and decided to be a little active by mopping my house. It's actually part of my plans for the day but so far that was the only plan getting done.


I felt better after being active and getting some movement, so I went to complete some of my plans from earlier in the day. It doesn't take long, since I plan by the hour and mostly allocate only one thing per hour.


Time check, around 8.30 pm. I went to shower and had my dinner, which was the leftover dumplings. Regarding the ongoing rain, it lightened into a drizzle.


To end the day, I just listened to music before preparing for bed and taking medication for the runny nose. I wanted to play Maplestory M and put a character on hot time, but I had no motivation and energy. Although I have a night routine, which I have a post about, I couldn't even be bothered.



So that's how my sick day went. Whenever I'm sick, it's mostly bed rest, because I would feel so tired. Not even my ultimate favourite game that although could get me up earlier, couldn't get me going throughout the day.
