Happy 2025! This year I am going to start a new series of blog posts, which I named "daily slow musings". Although there is the word 'daily', it is not going to be to be daily posts, though I'll try to post often. It's about the musings of my daily life living a slow lifestyle.
So it is the morning of 10 January, I opened my eyes when my alarm rang at 10.30 am and felt amiss. The room was dark, it felt more like 7 am, when the sun has just risen. Then I supposed my ears finally opened, hearing the sounds of the rain and realised why the room was dark.
Thanks to Maplestory M, I've finally cultivated the habit and could get up before noon. I've tried for so long to get up earlier, until I read about making plans in the morning to be forced to get up. That is so true, because I could get up on days when I have work or appointments in the morning. For other days, when there are no plans, I suppose there is a tendency to continue lazing in bed and most likely end up falling back asleep.
I thought about what would make me get up and decided on my favourite game, Maplestory M. In the game, there's something called expedition to take down boss monsters that can be entered only at fixed timings of the day. One of those timings is 10 to 11 am. At the same time, there is hot time, to get higher experience points from fighting monsters.
So I started the day with playing Maplestory M, entering the expedition and putting my main character on hot time auto battling. Washing up comes second because when I get up, there's only 30 mins left for the expedition.
After washing up, I had my breakfast of sweet potato bread with cheese and my daily dose of morning coffee.
Next I finally got down to editing my next Maplestory M video for YouTube. I planned to be done with it days ago but have been lazy. Maybe that's why this is the first "daily slow musings" post, because I'm finally feeling motivated and productive, although I had thought about doing it right on the first.
After editing the video, I updated my planner and planned for the rest of the day. At this time, it was 2 pm. I had plans to go to the gym, but it was still raining and my throat felt uncomfortable, so I decided not to go. I hoped I wasn't falling sick again, because I had just recovered from nasal congestion about a week ago.
I was getting hungry and went on the app to decide what to order. I thought about going to the mall for lunch and cafe afternoon, but decided not to since it was raining and I'm feeling motivated at home. Sometimes I do feel lazy at home and that's when I really need to go out.
So I ordered tom yum noodles, fried dumplings and porridge. To save on delivery fee, I ordered both lunch and dinner. By the time my food came, I was already very hungry, but I understand the food would take longer to arrive because of the weather.
I ate the tom yum noodles and a few dumplings. The rest would be for my dinner. It was 4 pm when I finished my lunch. Instead of having my afternoon coffee at a cafe, I had it at home.
Weather check, still raining. I think the rainy weather does affect my motivation. On usual days when it's not raining or doesn't rain the whole day, it's extremely hot. Maybe hot weather makes me lazy.
By this time at around 5 pm, the hot time on Maplestory M was already over and my main character's auto battle had ended. I went back to the game to play with my alt characters and put one of them on auto battle.
Since I didn't go to the gym, I did abit of house chores, as a form of movement, instead of being sedentary all day.
Time check, it's around 7 pm. I took a warm shower since it was still raining and had been raining for the whole day. I was really worried I was going to fall sick because I kept sneezing. It might be just sinus from the cold weather, but I had fallen sick twice already, so it was worrying. I was first down with sore throat and runny nose. It recovered but a week later, I got the nasal congestion.

One of my goals for 2025 is to live a healthier lifestyle. Now that I have cultivated a bedtime routine, next is to cultivate a workout routine. I thought about going to the gym but I actually have not exercised for a long time. Maybe that's why I'm falling sick easily.
After showering, I continued editing the Maplestory M video. I was hoping to get it up on the same day, since i've been delaying it. Another goal for this year is to post consistently, especially here on this blog and on YouTube.
I was almost done with the video but I decided to have dinner first before finishing and uploading it. I reheated and ate the porridge with the leftover dumplings.

After dinner and getting the video uploaded, it was almost 11 pm. It was time for my night routine before getting settled in bed. I do have my usual night routine, which I have a post about. On this day though, I just wanted to go straight to bed. I think all the sneezing made me want to just lay in bed. So I went to bed and listened to music, which is part of my night routine. Then I went to prepare for bed and it's lights out.

So that's how my day went living a slow lifestyle. I know slow living isn't about doing things slowly, but based on the time stated, I do take it slower sometimes and not because I was on the verge of falling sick that day. I plan by the hour and I schedule only one thing per hour, including meals and shower, which usually does not need the full hour. That gives me the time to either do things slower or simply relax and doing nothing during the extra minutes.
